On May 19, 2021. An introductory press conference was held at which the project activities were presented: “Reconstruction and modernization of part of the street lighting of Pazardzhik” under Procedure “Rehabilitation and modernization of municipal infrastructure – outdoor artificial lighting systems of municipalities” under the Program “Renewable Energy , energy efficiency, energy security “of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014 – 2021”.
During the press conference were presented the target groups of the project, namely – the residents of Pazardzhik and the users of street infrastructure and the main goal of the project – Improving the lighting environment, reducing electricity consumption and reducing operating costs.
On May 26, 2021. After the groundbreaking ceremony, the practical replacement of the old street lighting fixtures with new, much more energy efficient ones began. The work will start from the big boulevards: “G. Benkovski ”,“ Bulgaria ”and “Tsar Osvoboditel ”, and together with this the photovoltaic power plant on the roof of Hebar Hall will be built. The difference in street lighting, as well as in energy savings, which is a major priority of the project, will certainly be noticeable.
On June 3, 2021. An information event was held, presenting to all interested citizens of Pazardzhik municipality, the project activities. During the information event of the target groups of the project, namely – the residents of Pazardzhik and users of street infrastructure were distributed materials and presentation of the main goal of the project – Improving the lighting environment, reducing electricity consumption and reducing operating costs.
On the 13th of October, in connection with the implementation of the project “Reconstruction and modernization of part of the street lighting of the town Pazardzhik Municipality was visited by representatives of the European Economic Area Office – Camilla Langsholt – Program Manager, Eva Klöve – Head of Department and Sophie Laxa – Trainee. The purpose of the visit was to learn about the progress and implementation of the activities included in the project.
On behalf of Pazardzhik Municipality participated by Rumen Kozhuharov – Secretary of the Municipality and Project Manager, who presented the main activities of the project, namely:
– Replacement of the existing LED and CFL luminaires with LED luminaires – 1050 pcs.
– Introduced Automation and Management System for Monitoring of Electricity Consumption of Outdoor Lighting.
– Introduced Renewable Energy Generation facility for outdoor lighting needs in the city. The representatives of the EIP office were briefed on the information and publicity activities implemented so far, as well as the website developed for this purpose – https://osvetlenie-pazardzhik.eu.
At the workshop and in the subsequent physical inspection, the progress of the project was presented and it was specified that all foreseen luminaires have been replaced, a 15 kW photovoltaic installation has been built and only the implementation of the control system is still to be done. All of this leads to an early implementation of the project, which has a deadline of 24.08.2022, and it is expected that the final completion of all activities, including the submission of the final report and payment request, will take place this year.

On the 11th of February 2022, the second information event was held during which the project’s target groups, namely the residents of the city of Pazardzhik and the users of the street infrastructure, were presented with the implemented project activities. To further promote the project, promotional materials with the project logo were distributed to the participants of the event.
A closing press conference was held on the 21st of March 2022 to present information on the objectives, activities and results achieved during the implementation of the project.
